The Buddhist Place, founded in 2001, is a registered charity that supports monks, nuns, and lay teachers from different Buddhist traditions in Ontario. Based in Peterborough, we provide opportunities for the local community to learn about and to practice the teachings of the Buddha in a friendly and supportive atmosphere. Our activities include regular meditation sessions, supporting local charities, hosting Dharma teachings by monastic and lay teachers, and organizing retreats where meditators can deepen their practice and awareness of the Dharma.
Within the Buddhist Place, our aspiration is to foster and create a welcoming space for all who are interested in exploring meditation and cultivating a path towards wisdom and compassion using the teachings of the Buddha as a guide and source for reflection and learning.
"The Buddha taught us to see the way things are and to let go of our clinging to them. Take this feeling of letting go as your refuge." — Ajahn Chah
